Mr. Macias, a passionate music educator from Pearland, Texas, is thrilled to join the Clear Lake Intermediate community as the new choir director. A recent graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music Education, Mr. Macias brings a wealth of experience in both performance and music education.
His musical journey began in the 6th grade at Sablatura Middle School in Pearland, Texas, and continued through his high school years at the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. At Baylor, he founded and directed the men’s ensemble Voces Hominum and served as a section leader in both the Baylor A Cappella Choir and Chamber Choir. These roles allowed him to develop his leadership skills and deepen his passion for choral music.
Mr. Macias has a diverse background in professional singing, including performances with the VOCES8 US Choral Scholars, where he participated in the American premiere of Christopher Tin’s “The Lost Birds” at Stanford University’s Bing Auditorium. He has also sung with Chicora Voices in Greenville, South Carolina, the Mercury Singers in Houston, and the Houston Grand Opera. Additionally, Mr. Macias is looking forward to joining the Houston Chamber Choir this fall while teaching at Clear Lake Intermediate.
In his free time, Mr. Macias enjoys a variety of hobbies and interests that enrich his life and inspire his work. He is an avid video gamer and finds relaxation and creativity in exploring new virtual worlds. He also loves comics, particularly those from Marvel and DC, appreciating the stories and artistry involved. A true movie enthusiast, Mr. Macias is a huge fan of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and enjoys re-watching these epic films.
Mr. Macias is committed to creating a positive and comprehensive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of his students. He believes in the transformative power of music and is eager to help each student develop their technical skills and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. He looks forward to working with students and parents to make this a memorable and enriching year in the choir program at Clear Lake Intermediate.
